12 N.J. custodians, bus drivers and school staff win ‘Unsung Superheroes’ awards

Not all heroes wear capes. Some heroes don orange safety vests, hairnets, or practical coveralls, like the dozen school district staff honored late last month at the New Jersey School Boards Association’s “Unsung Superheroes in Education Awards.”
The awards celebrate staff members whose work is primarily done out of the spotlight, but is nevertheless critical to school maintenance and student education, according to Timothy Purnell, the New Jersey School Boards Association’s executive director and CEO.
